About Myotherapy Institute

The Myotherapy Institute is an educational institution dedicated to providing thorough research-based training in massage therapy while embracing that which has made the profession historically so attractive—the caring relationship that exists between therapist and client.

Instruction at the Institute is designed to blend these two aspects of massage therapy—the clinical and the empathetic with the goal of preparing students to acquire a mastery of technique while encouraging them to remain sensitive to the whole needs of individuals who come to therapy seeking treatment.

For the critically minded, its curriculum is designed to encourage students to explore their creative potentials—perhaps with the aim of improving the therapy process itself.

Since its founding in 1993, the Myotherapy Institute has been earning a reputation for solidly preparing its students for professional success, as well as success in passing the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB). Of the 30 states which currently administer this exam as part of their professional licensing process, Nebraska has the highest pre-licensing educational standards for demonstrating the mastery of didactic learning and practical therapy skills. As a result of these challenging requirements and the commitment to academic excellence, the Institute has a pass rate well above the national average of those graduates who take the NCBTMB examination.

The key to the Institute’s success in preparing students for practice after graduation is its focus on students’ individual learning needs. Instruction in the state mandated science courses, for instance, is never presented solely in traditional lecture format. Rather, in recognition of the varying needs of adult learners, class presentations are conducted in a variety of modes-seeing, hearing, touching. Low student-to-instructor ratios further help to enhance the success of the individualized instruction.
